Our Services

Mobile Service

Third Coast Clock Service makes “Housecalls for Sick Grandfathers.” Onsite visits are the best way to service your larger clock whether it is a modern grandfather clock, an antique tall case or a weighted wall clock that is too big for you to take off your wall. We also will visit your smaller timepieces and mechanical tower clocks.

We offer factory authorized service for Howard Miller, Sligh, Colonial Mfg Co.,Trend, Emperor and American Heritage clocks as well as other floor clock manufacturers. The restoration of Herschede and other tubular bell floor clocks is a specialty.

While we are home based in West Michigan, service calls have been made throughout the state of Michigan including the Thumb, Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. We put no limits on our service area. The northern areas of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio are frequently visited as well.
Once at your home Brien will thoroughly examine your clock, oftentimes completely removing its mechanism from the case for better inspection.

Treatment will be recommended, and the necessary repairs and maintenance can typically be done right in your home. Other times it may be necessary to bring your timepiece to our shop for service. In this scenario, only the required components of your timepiece will be carefully packed and transported to our shop for treatment.

The performance of your clock and your satisfaction is our goal. Whether you are right in downtown Rockford or reside elsewhere, consider having Brien make a visit to your timepiece.

Moving Service

Packing and transporting irreplaceable heirlooms should be handled by experienced professionals. We move clocks locally and on the same day on a weekly basis. We ensure safe relocation of your timepiece into its new location, setup and routine service is included, as well as instruction on care and operation of your treasured timepiece.

Need a longer term solution? Monthly storage is available when needed. We will also pack your clock if others will be handling the move.

We aren’t limited to only local relocations! The staff at Third Coast Clock Service has relocated clocks all over the United States, including destinations such as Colorado, Kansas, Iowa, New York, North Carolina, Florida, California, Arizona  and more. We understand that your precious timepiece is more than another piece of furniture.

Repair & Restoration

Routine Maintenance
A proper maintenance schedule will insure the longevity of any timepiece. Most major
manufacturers recommend having your clock oiled every 2 years and a complete cleaning every 8 to 10.

Third Coast Clock Service recommends a surface cleaning and oiling every 3 years. We feel the additional step of surface cleaning is an important one. Without surface cleaning, the newly added oil would become contaminated by built up dirt and old oil.

Standard Movement Service
The answer to most worn out movements is our standard movement services, sometimes referred to as an overhaul. This is a very involved process and can include the following steps;

  • Full disassembly of the movement
  • Thorough examination of all components under magnification
  • Ultrasonic Cleaning
  • Necessary repairs to worn and damaged parts
  • Assembly and lubrication
  • Regulation for timekeeping accuracy

Movement replacement
In some cases we feel our customer (and their clock) is better served with the installation of a new movement rather than repairing the old one.

Restoration Services
We have brought timepieces back to their original splendor after incidences of neglect, fire, flood and accidental damage.
